For Harvesting

harvesting

Grapes Harvesting should be done early in the morning, around below 22⁰ degree centigrade.

The bunches should be handled in a proper way so that there must not be any damages on the tip of the berry. When we cut the bunch from the tree it should be cut above the mounted part of Grape stem.

After harvesting, grapes are to be transferred from farm to Pack House as soon as possible. At Pack House, remove the bad and damaged berry from the bunch with minimum handling of bunches. Now the grapes are ready for packing.

Steps of Packing

grapage sheet

Take a box (Plastic or Corrugated), place the plastic liner, after placing the plastic liner put the moisture absorbent paper at the bottom of the box in the plastic liner.

Place the Grapes in the plastic liner, place a sheet of grape guard (Printing side should be upward) on the top of the grapes, for White variety of Grapes we can place Grape guard sheet directly on Grapes. For color variety we have to use one thin tissue paper between Grapes & Grape Guard then close the liner and close the box.

Place the boxes in a pre-cooling chamber for around 7 to 10 hours to reduce the berry temperature upto 1⁰ to 2⁰ degree.

After pre-cooling, place the box into a cold store where the temperature must be maintained 0 to 1⁰ degree.
